Art Auction

Okay, if you haven’t heard about this, then you haven’t been in for awhile, as the current Silent Art Auction (for summer dance camp) is our ninth auction. Why do we do it? Well, we love kids and all the great things they say and think, we love our colourful Fredericton community, and we truly appreciate the artists that we meet, so we decided to combine the three to raise money for underprivileged kids. We want to expose them to arts and culture – theatre classes, music lessons, dance classes, and art classes – to give them a chance to explore their hidden talents – an opportunity they might never have. We wanted to show them that you don’t need wealth to be expressive and to be amazing.

It all started in the summer of 2007 when we realized that many of the servers and cooks here at Isaac’s Way had creative talents! Besides being great at their jobs they also knew how to paint and draw. That summer was our first Silent Art Auction to raise money, and we decided to give the gift of Music Lessons. We raised $1000 and gave 3 lucky children an exciting offer. One child took voice lessons, one chose drum lessons, and a third was so happy to continue on with the bagpipe classes he had once tried.

Since that summer, we have raised $15,000 for kids in our community, and we are proud!
