Autumn Wood

Autumn Wood by Clive Roberts

Autumn Wood by Clive Roberts

This framed painting is 15w by 11h, an oil painting done by a well known local artist Clive Roberts.  Clive Roberts studied art at Mount Allison University under Lawren Harris Jr. and Alex Colville, graduating in 1951.  In 1952 he came to Fredericton to direct an art program in the city schools.  He later became Art Coordinator for the schools of District 26, a position he held until his retirement in 1981.

While there was always some time for painting during those school years, it was not until his retirement years that he was able to paint seriously.  Watercolor became his chosen medium and his many pictures have found homes throughout Canada, the US, England and even as far away as Australia.  Although Clive does use mainly watercolors for his work, this picture shown here is an oil painting in which paint was applied with a knife rather than a brush.  It was painted in the UNB woodlot back in the 1960s and is called Autumn Wood.

Mr. Clive Roberts is generously donating 100% of the proceeds to TNB Summer Camp Program for kids.
