Artist Statement

I was born in Minto, NB in 1938. I graduated from Minto Memorial High School, UNB, and Dalhousie University. I married Lynda Macaulay of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton and we have four children – Raymond, Christine, Donald and Stephen – as well as ten grandchildren. I practiced medicine in the Saint John area from 1965 to 2008. I am a life member of both the NB Medical Society and the Canadian Medical Association, and currently a committee member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.

I started painting on my own in the late 1980’s and joined the Westfield Art Group in 2008. For approximately 20 years I painted only sporadically and got instruction from television and books. I have done paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolour and currently our group is being instructed in Pastels. Our local art group has established the Guila Inch Scholarship Fund and in the past two years we have raised money for this fund by selling our paintings and giving financial support to young local artists (usually high school students).
