This colourful 20×34 painting by Miguelina Izaguirre Yera was painted with acrylics on sturdy mdf. She has added interest by layering with textured paint, mini canvases, and jewels that reflect the beauty of the sea. Miguelina calls her creative piece “Fragmented Habitat”.
With its vibrancy and sparkle the viewer is reminded of alluring tropical waters found in Miguelina’s home country. The broken segments also bring to mind how aquatic life has been affected by climate change and pollution.
Miguelina was born and raised near the mountains of Cuba. She studied theatre, worked with a theatre company, and taught classes for nearly 10 years. Miguelina now lives happily in Fredericton with her husband Alejandro.
Half of your generous bid will give local kids theatre lessons, and the other half will be sent back home to her family in Cuba.
