Isaac’s Way receives Gold with Fredericton Green Shops

Well it finally happened!  Last week we met with Ashley Gray of Green Matters and signed up for Fredericton’s Green Shops Program and guess what!  They gave Isaac’s Way Restaurant their Gold Status with an amazing 32 credits!  Yay!  As someone recently put it, “It’s about time!”  I guess we were so busy over the past three years actually making the changes and encouraging the staff to reduce and recycle that time zoomed on by.  Here is our list of green actions and accomplishments:

we use environmentally certified cleaners
we recycle all tin, plastic and paper and transport it ourselves (one mini-van full per week!)
we use compostable take away containers and paper bags
our heating and cooling system is energy efficient
we have a programmable thermostat
we installed new industry-specific energy efficient kitchen equipment
our spray nozzle for cleaning dishes is low flow
we lowered our water usage when cleaning dishes
our twinkle accent lights are LED
our dimmer switches are high efficiency
more and more of our food products are from local sources
the waste oil from our fryers gets recycled
many of our employees travel to and from work via biking/walking/transit

To maintain our Gold Status we will continue to make environmentally conscious decisions with our menu and also with our restaurant operations.  Our beautiful planet Earth deserves the attention.
