When I paint people in their activities I get a quick painting: the people will have moved before much thought can be put to the brush. Outdoor scene painting gives more time for details. Portraits and still life allow even more time for details. Painting from sports images completes the cycle: a quick brush is used to capture the motion, but not details.
Artist Statement
Painting can be compared to catch and release fishing, each stage involving an interpretation. I catch and interpret what I see, and the viewer interprets the released image. I consider a painting successful when I can feel the motion in the picture.
