Perserverance

Perserverance 16x20 Ruby Allan

Ruby Allan – Mostly self taught, I paint in oils/acrylics. For the last 3 years I have studied under Glenn Priestley and presently continue to do so. He has inspired me and has given me the confidence to showcase my artwork. This summer I was chosen as “Artist In Residence” emerging artist in the casemates at Officers’ Square which proved to be a great experience.

I feel every little step I take is an accomplishment, so setting personal goals helps me grow and mature as an artist. I try to pay attention to the spirit within my paintings. I strive for “realism “ in my work which consists of many different subjects. I paint from my own photographs, always looking for the perfect lighting and composition which makes for a more interesting work of art. On occasion I do “Plein Air” painting which can be very challenging but in the right conditions can produce some attractive end results.

About the Painting
This painting titled “Perserverance” gives the viewer a great perception of the Walking Bridge here in Fredericton. I called it Perseverance because this being the annual Fredericton Marathon, I am certain that all those who have run a marathon know the endurance it takes to accomplish this feat.
