Biography
Mary Sorensen grew up in Fredericton and has always had an interest in art. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and the University of New Brunswick. It was during her time at NBCCD that she fell in love with mixed media and abstract art. Mary is highly influenced by Claude Monet and Salvador Dali.
As a mixed media artist, her work explores the relationship of shapes, texture and colour to convey the everyday thoughts, actions and emotions of individuals.
Artist Statement
This piece is a little different than my usual work; I decided to use an actual subject and a different medium. I love the way it turned out. I enjoyed working on Poppy Dreams, experimenting with mediums and techniques.
As a local artist I feel it’s to help other emerging artists wherever I can, regardless of the type or form of art.
