Guy Vézina was born in Montréal in 1961. He trained as an occupational therapist (OT) in Kingston, Ontario and moved to the Atlantic provinces in 1986 to work as an OT and to explore the area. He and his spouse settled in Fredericton in 1995.
Guy started to exhibit works in galleries while living in St. John’s, NL, and has taken part in group shows at Gallery 78 since 1997. Guy’s works in pen and ink were selected as the winning entries in the 1995 and 1997 “Sketch Your Downtown” contests. From 2005 until 2009, Guy stopped working as an occupational therapist to devote more time to his art. He still rents studio space at the Charlotte Street Art Centre while working part-time as an occupational therapist. He also takes courses on a part-time basis at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, working toward a Certificate in Visual Arts Foundation.
Guy works mainly in oils, pastels and ink. His style is mostly figurative and his subjects depict landscapes, cityscapes and scenes involving people, often with symbolic overtones. His works are part of private collections across Canada and overseas.
