My name is Chris Browne, and I studied visual art at York University and art education at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I’m a parent, a teacher (at Leo Hayes High School) and a part time musician with the Downtown Blues Band. I love and appreciate many kinds of art, but my own is often direct and (I hope) accessible and fun.
I’ve been interested in folk/primitive art for a long time, and enjoy revisiting themes and subjects from my childhood, in this case my boyish fascination with sea monsters. These two pieces are made from scrap wood and masonite, and illustrate my belief that art does not have to rely on special or costly materials.
